GREEN BAY – Although Clay Matthews is listed as probable and will play in Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, the Green Bay Packers star outside linebacker may be limited in his number of snaps, according to Packers coach Mike McCarthy

Matthews has not played since injuring his hamstring against Arizona on Nov. 4, missing the past four games.

“I thought he looked good all week. I’ve had no indication from him that he wouldn’t be (full go),” McCarthy said after practice. “So I look for Clay to play and make an impact in the game.”

But when asked if Matthews might have his snaps limited, McCarthy replied, “Potentially. I think we’d be smart to watch his reps. It’s something we’ve talked about with him personally and a number of guys coming back. This is a very important game, but there’s more left to be played after this game.”

Added Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers: “We’ll kind of see how it goes. Generally speaking, I think you try to ease a guy back in to where … Clay’s a guy that normally doesn’t come off the field. So I don’t know that’ll be that kind of game, but we’ll see how he feels once he’s out there.”

The Packers’ other outside linebackers are Erik Walden, Dezman Moses and Frank Zombo.
