GREEN BAY – Charles Woodson is on the mend, and the Green Bay Packers safety has no doubt that he will return this season from the fractured collarbone he suffered Oct. 21 at St. Louis.

Woodson, who will miss his second straight game Sunday when the Packers face against Arizona at Lambeau Field, said Thursday that the collarbone injury is not nearly as severe as when he broke it in the Packers’ Super Bowl XLV triumph in February 2011.

“It’s not as bad,” Woodson said. “Not at all.”

That said, Woodson wouldn’t say when he hopes to return. Coach Mike McCarthy said upon announcing the injury that Woodson would miss “approximately” six weeks, but quarterback Aaron Rodgers, after speaking with Woodson, said he “would still bet on the low end of the range. If they’re saying four to eight weeks, I would bet closer to four with Charles.”

On Thursday, all Woodson would say was that he’s improving.

“We’ll go with the medical timeline right now. I will say, it’s feeling a lot better,” Woodson said. “I have pretty good strength in it. It’s just a time issue with a bone. You have to let it heal. At this point, I feel pretty good. Hopefully I’ll be back sooner rather than later.”
